NOVA SCOTIA WALKING HOLIDAY - 6 Days Cape Breton Highlands and
Antigonish Highlands
DAY 1
This exceptional tour begins with a trek into the Antigonish Highlands on a wonderful trail that threads through stands of majestic pines, spruce, and hemlock that flourish on the highland slopes. Occasional breaks in the tree cover offer panoramic views of the coastal lowlands and coastline of St. Georges Bay.
DAY 2
On Cape Breton Island, our hiking venues include the fabulous Mabou Hills, near picturesque Mabou Village, in the Gaelic heartland of the island. We hike on wonderful trails that wind through the hills to ridges and summits where we can see the coastline and countryside like it is seen by the bald eagles that often entertain us as they soar over the landscape.
DAY 3-6
Next, we follow the coastal road north for 4 days of hiking in the northern highland region of Cape Breton, including the Highlands National Park. The highland region is renowned for spectacular coastal vistas, superb seaside trails, and a variety of wildlife, including moose, bald eagles, and whales (whale cruise available, extra $). The hiking program includes exciting treks to the lofty highland plateau and along some of the island's spectacular, wilderness coastline. We also drive the amazing Cabot Trail parkway which snakes and winds along the shoreline, through the coastal mountains, and up onto the highland plateau in the National Park.
Tour departs Halifax.
